Sir, we have a warrant...

Well, they've found Chandra Levy's body. I wonder how long it will be before Gary Condit is "detained"?

Israeli Embassy in Paris Gutted by Fire

I'd like to think this is only an accident, but given recent and ongoing events in France, I have a bad feeling about it.

UPDATE: Reuters is saying it was probably an electrical fire. Time will tell.

News Flash!

The coroner's report is in. Chandra Levy was...(gasp!)...murdered!

Take a gander at this

I'm no conspiracy nut, but this is disturbing. And he wasn't in jail in 1995. Truly a bizarre coincidence, if nothing else.

Of Hollow Men

Peggy Noonan has a new essay up at Opinion Journal. It's hard to pick an excerpt, but I did:

It seems to me the question is not, "Will the architects of the new Europe bow to the reality of God and include him in the central founding document of their vast new union?" The question is, "Will a group of atheist and agnostic European bureaucrats be forced to mention a deity in whom they do not believe in order to appease lesser and ignorant people who unfortunately have a lot of votes?" Europe is a post-Christian society on a continent devoted to the material except when it is considering astrology, witchcraft and worshiping rocks.

Sounds like some people here in America - "religious diversity" means accepting anything but Christianity. Read the whole thing.

Truly First Class

There are days when we tend to forget that there are plenty of people still out there with their heads on straight:

It all began with a chance encounter at an airport, a glance, an offer, a quiet chat.
What's your seat number, soldier?
It's 23-B, sir, the soldier told the businessman.
No, son, that's my seat. Yours is in first class.
As more soldiers boarded, similar offers quickly came from the other first-class passengers.

And eight soldiers heading home from Iraq for two weeks of R&R found themselves with their officers in the big seats up front instead of the center seats in coach.

Here is a picture taken of the soldiers on that flight:

American flight 866

Hearing of incidents like this still manages to warm the cockles of my heart. Read the whole thing.

Real simplisme

I've been rooting for Armstrong to win the Tour de Lance again this year, of course. Apparently, those oh-so-sophisticated Euros don't really appreciate his talent and skill.

"Now go away or I shall flip you a second time-a!"

Classy, real classy. I'm not really surprised anymore, or even outraged at this sort of behaviour. Just sad. I can't even think of anything else to say about it.

Explosive traces found

Investigators have confirmed what we all had suspected: The Russian airliners were downed by terrorists.

I wonder how this news will affect their view of the Islamist War?
