Interesting...

I found this article about Japanese schoolchildren being tracked with RFID's. At first I was a little bothered by it, but when I discovered that the RFID wasn't implanted, only in the child's backpack, I like the idea. These are young kids, many of whom walk or take public transportation to school alone. I think as a parent I would like the idea of making sure my child made it to school safely. I have a 15-year old daughter who has a cell phone - the HS where she attends and I teach finally caught up with the 21st century and allows the kids to have cell phones with them at school - that way I can text message her or call her if I need to get a hold of her. The RFID is a great substitute - the kids don't have to keep up with it, and it makes sure that they make it to school and home safely.
